Striped Bass Charters
Duxbury Massachusetts has some of the best Striped Bass fishing in the Northeast. The deep channels and rip tides hold bait all summer long which brings in the Stripers. We run two type of Striped Bass trips. An inshore trip where we fish the local bays of Duxbury, Plymouth, and Kingston. Captain Willie has been fishing these waters since he was 4 years old, so he knows them well. We also offer a trip over to Provincetown or Barnstable to target the large schools of big bass when they are around.
The best months for Striped bass trips are when they arrive in May until they leave early September.
What To Expect
For an inshore Striped Bass charter we run morning or afternoon trips. A typical trip would be leaving the dock at 5:00-6:00am. We then head out about a mile or two to catch live bait which is normally mackerel, but we will use pogies as well. We then bring the bait back in the bays and live line for Stripers. Although fishing is fishing, it is not uncommon to catch 20 to 30 fish on these trips. Up until two years ago, we had an 8 year streak of getting a "keeper" sized Striped Bass on every trip. This is a great trip if you want to catch fish!
For the Striped bass/Bluefish trip over to Provincetown or Barnstable we like the mornings better. We like to leave around 5:00-5:30 Am for these trips as it is a little bit longer run to get to the fishing grounds. We normally stop to get live bait on the way out and then shoot across Massachusetts Bay to where the fish are. For these trips we find that artificial lures tends to work better as the fish move fast so we like to keep up with them. Once we get on them or hook up on a fish we will throw a live bait down to try and double out triple up.
Regulations change from year to year. Right now we are allowed to keep one Striped bass per person measuring between 28-35". We will filet and bag the catch for you.
